CORE FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL PUBLIC HEALTH.

Core Functions of Public Health.

In a medical report presented by the Institute of Medicine in 1988, Public health has three main core functions to be performed by agencies that shape the future. The identified core functions are:

● Assessment:
During the assessment process, essential data is gathered in order to learn about people’s health status and major health problems.

●Assurance:
During the assurance, process steps are taken to ensure that the health system is effectively functioning in place following specific components.

●Policy Development: Recommendations are provided to public policymakers in order to frame effective policies pertaining to public health.
These are provided based on proper analysis and recommendations based on the evidence collected.

● Who is Responsible for Public Health Functions?.
It becomes the responsibility of public health agencies to ensure the proper functioning of public health, besides some other agencies,is also involved in carrying out public health functions. These are governmental agencies at local, state, and federal levels…
